Additional Details
*Unlike Chess Club where students are able to talk during play, students are expected to not engage in conversation during games so as not to distract their opponent or disrupt other tournament games. Our intention is for the tournament room environment to resemble an environment found in Chess tournaments around the country.
*Students who are finished with their round need to exit the Chapel. Students can converse and eat snacks in the Art Room.
*Parents should accompany students in grades six and below.
*Seating for parents and loved ones will exist in the Chapel, but you will not be seated “close” to the board.
*There will be bananas, water, and muffins available in the Art Room.
*Rounds will begin once both players are ready. Every player is entitled to a five minute break after finishing a match.
*First and second place medallions will be awarded to the finalists of the Open tournament and the consolation tournament.
*The tournament will be seeded based on results from the January tournament and our knowledge of players from previous Chess Club experiences.
*Doors will open at 8:30 AM. Play will begin promptly at 9:00 AM
